We’re proud to be doing our bit to help save and protect the Hauraki Gulf as part of the WWF – New Zealand’s Whale Tales initiative. Whale Tales brings a pod of uniquely designed and painted impressive Whale Tail sculptures to Auckland to help raise awareness of the rapidly declining Hauraki Gulf.
The Tails – inspired by the endangered Bryde’s whale – will tell the “tales” of our moana and how we all have a part to play for a healthy ocean.
You can find Signature Homes Whale Tale located in the Whangaparāoa town centre.

From 24 January- 18 April 2022 a trail of unique and stunning whale Tail sculptures, will animate Tāmaki Makaurau and bring to life themes of protecting and restoring the mauri of our Ocean. Inspired by the Bryde’s Whale the Tail sculptures will dot Auckland’s streets, parks, and open spaces to provide residents and visitors a fresh opportunity to explore the City of Sails.
New Zealand’s Bryde’s whales can be found between the North and East capes and in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park — one of only three places in the world where they live year-round!
Sadly, our Bryde’s whales are in serious trouble because their home in the Gulf is no longer safe. With only around 135 left, they could disappear from our waters forever. Unless we act now.=
We have commissioned our Whale Tale artist Bev Goodwin to paint a one-off unique art piece of her interpretation of the Hauraki Gulf. Enter to win here.
