For Jenni and Phil Carter, finding the right home took time. After a year of house hunting turned up nothing that truly fit their growing family, they decided to take a different route- one where they could start fresh and design something just for them.
With water views in sight and space to play at heart, they chose to build their dream home in Omokoroa with Signature Homes Bay of Plenty & Coromandel. Now, together with their children Miller, Eddison, Tabitha and their dog Maggie, they’re living the lifestyle they’d been searching for.
The Brief: A Family Home That Grows With You
Life at the Carter household is full of energy and movement - with kids ranging from toddlers to teens, and a dog in tow! Their goal was simple: a home with enough space for everyone to feel at ease, and room to adapt as their family grows.
The layout needed to make the most of the coastal views, especially from the kitchen, dining, and main living zones. With a previously designed home already in their back pocket, they worked closely with the Signature team to adapt it perfectly for their new Omokoroa section.
The Experience: More Than Just a Build
After visiting showhomes and getting to know the Signature team, the Carters felt confident they were in good hands.
“We liked the building guarantees, and the fact that we had a whole team with us from start to finish,” says Phil.
Their New Home Consultant made the journey feel easy - and even fun. “He was amazing,” says Jenni. “It felt like we’d been friends forever. We couldn’t have asked for a better team. We didn’t just build a house - we made lasting friendships.”
The Look: Coastal Luxury, With Personality
From the street, the Carters’ home is instantly eye-catching. A mix of Abodo timber and Celcrete cladding gives the exterior texture and dimension, while a coastal-inspired palette of whites and neutrals sets a calming tone.
Inside, Jenni and Phil worked with the Signature Homes interior design team to nail their coastal luxury look - soft and seamless, with unexpected pops of colour. Blush pink and sage green make joyful appearances in the bathroom, laundry, and front door, bringing a playful yet polished feel to the home.
They even painted the roof, walls, and doors the same colour for a subtle, modern effect that enhances the home’s clean lines.
And the kitchen? It’s a true centrepiece - so stylish that it might even tempt a few non-cooks to get inspired.
Now, the Carters are enjoying a home that suits their busy family perfectly - with space to spread out, soak in the views, and enjoy the lifestyle they’ve always imagined.
