Why Linda & Graham chose to build new

Tired of tired homes, they created their own masterpiece with Signature Homes Bay of Plenty
After many months of house hunting, only to find tired properties that needed significant refurbishing, Linda and Graham decided to build new.
“Our desire was for modern building materials and services, like double glazing and heating.”
Linda & Graham’s story
The couple were lucky enough to find the perfect section nearby Omokoroa golf course – an added bonus for the two keen golfers!
They reached out to Signature Homes Bay of Plenty & Coromandel to discuss what their options were.
“We had looked at several brochures from Signature and were impressed with the range and quality of the houses designed."

Their brief
To begin, Linda and Graham reviewed the Signature Homes website to create a plan that ticked all their boxes.
They approached Signature Homes Bay of Plenty & Coromandel, with their concept drawn on a paper napkin, ready to turn it into reality.
The couple’s list of must-haves included a powder room, separate laundry, high quality finishes, raked ceiling and spacious airy interiors.

The floorplan
The Shoebridge plan is the epitome of low-maintenance living, with all the modern comforts in mind.
The plan was created to capture all day sun, allowing the central open-plan living spaces are adorned with abundant natural light and are cocooned by three bedrooms all with their own ensuite.
The striking pavilion ceiling helps to create the illusion of more space and contributes to a Hamptons-inspired home.
“We wanted a sense of space, high ceiling and simplicity to display our collection of artworks."
Design details
The neutral colour palette inspired by New Zealand’s beautiful coast, helps to define a Hamptons-style home with a Kiwi touch.
The exterior features a combination of white brick and Horizontal Lineaboard in Resene Whitewater from James Hardie, adding a sense of texture and giving this home a natural and elegant feel.
Other special features include the covered alfresco outdoor area captures the morning sun beautifully, creating the perfect spot to enjoy your favourite book and a cuppa.
A sense of flow and connectivity is created as you step inside, through the continued use of a natural, light, bright and airy colour palette.
Special features include stone fireplace in the living area is the piece de resistance, and adds to the welcoming feel of the home.

Linda and Graham really valued being kept in the loop throughout their build.
“We loved receiving the weekly progress updates and photos—especially since we were living on Waiheke Island and couldn’t easily visit the site due to COVID restrictions,” says Linda
